General information
Nowadays, international experience, language skills and understanding of other cultures are more important for
school, studies and career than ever before.
The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM program therefore provides specific support to enable qualified young people to take part in a placement abroad and so to broaden their personal horizons. Each year, exchanges involving about 1,200 scholarship holders are “promoted”. That makes the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM a unique program in Germany.
At present, the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM consists of six program lines.
The heart of the program comprises the scholarships for university students, for vocationally qualified people and for secondary-school students. These programs are supplemented by short-term lines for specific fields and target groups, such as the Walter Hallstein Program for Europe-related internships and study placements, scholarships for exchanges with the German-speaking Andrássy University Budapest and scholarships for a workshop for students at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy.
All the lines of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM are based on the principle of reciprocity and exchange:
for every scholarship holder from Baden-Württemberg, a scholarship holder comes to Germany from abroad. In this way, a network of young people evolves, with the state of Baden-Württemberg as its basis and starting point. Nowadays, alongside qualifications, networks represent a major factor for success and an investment in the future.
Schools, universities and companies can all benefit from the wealth of experiences that the scholarship holders can integrate into their everyday work and into political and social debates after they return. The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is therefore making a major contribution to global understanding and to securing the future of this federal state.
