What is the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM?
The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is a program of the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg. Every year, several hundred scholarships are awarded to good and excellent university students, vocationally qualified people and secondary-school students on the basis of reciprocity and exchange.
What is the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg?
The Landesstiftung was formed from the former Landesbeteiligungen Baden-Württemberg GmbH. It is a non-profit, limited liability company. The assets of almost 2.4 billion euros administered by it are mainly placed in investment funds, real estate and company holdings. According to the Association of German Foundations (Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen), it was the second-largest foundation under private law in Germany in 2008.
The aim of the Landesstiftung is to strengthen and secure the sustainability of the state of Baden-Württemberg through not-for-profit projects. The Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg has been implementing not-for-profit programs and projects in the areas of science & research, training and social responsibility & culture since 2001. The projects range from language programs for pre-school children, programs for integration through social engagement, the “University of Applied Sciences and Universities of Cooperative Education Sustainability Program” and “Opportunities = Equality. Equal Opportunities for Women and Men” to research projects in the areas of life sciences, optical technologies and nanosciences. What are the aims of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM?
The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is a program promoting international exchange. After all, international experience, language skills and understanding of other cultures are more important than ever in our schools, work life and studies. Another important aim of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM is to link scholarship holders and alumni worldwide with each other and the state of Baden-Württemberg. Besides qualifications, networks are also a significant success factor nowadays and an investment in the future.
What programs does the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM offer?

Who can apply for a Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM?
Program for University Students:
University students with good to excellent results in all state and some state recognised universities in Baden-Württemberg and their partner universities abroad.
Program for Vocationally Qualified People: Applicants from Baden-Württemberg with non-academic training and graduates of master, technician and other technical colleges (Fachschulen) and vocationally qualified people who have completed professional training. Outstanding qualifications from the training or other special
results is a prerequisite.
Program for Secondary-School Students: Secondary-school students aged 15-18 living in Baden-Württemberg who are in Year 10 when making the application or can produce a secondary general school certificate may apply. An average to good school performance is a prerequisite. The aim of the program is to foster Baden-Württemberg's links with Europe, especially Eastern European countries, through student exchanges.
Walter Hallstein Program: With the Walter Hallstein Program, the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg promotes Europe-related internships and study placements, primarily catering for continuing European integration in the field of education. The Walter Hallstein Program consists of two “Europe paths”: Europe path 1 is aimed at particularly highly qualified university students reading Europe-related postgraduate courses imparting multi-disciplinary competence on Europe at universities in Baden-Württemberg. Students pursuing a Master of Arts in “European Administration Management” (Europäisches Verwaltungsmanagement) at the University for Public Administration and Finances Ludwigsburg (Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung und Finanzen Ludwigsburg) and the University for Public Administration Kehl (Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung Kehl) or a “Master of European Studies” (MEUS) at the University of Tübingen are particularly encouraged to apply. Through the Europe path 2 scholarships, Europe-related internships for university students and administration specialists from the reformist countries in Central and Eastern Europe are fostered. The internships allow them to gain insights into the administrative, legal and social structures of Baden-Württemberg and the European Union.Particular support is offered to university students reading politics, economics, law and administration and young vocationally qualified people from the public authorities of the Central and Eastern European states. The linguistic level of applicants must correspond at least to the second examination of the Goethe Institute (German as a foreign language). Young administration specialists should have at least two years' professional experience.
Program Andrássy University Budapest
This program is geared towards graduates from universities in Baden-Württemberg who wish to apply for postgraduate courses at the Andrássy University Budapest (outgoings).
Students of the Andrássy University Budapest from Hungary or Central and Eastern Europe who intend to carry out a research project in Baden-Württemberg (incomings) are also supported.
Program for Film Production: The aim of the program is to familiarise a group of selected and highly qualified students from the fields of direction, screenplay, camera, editing/montage and production with the working methods of American studios in a Hollywood workshop. After three weeks of tuition, the students can deepen their learning in further four to six-week internships in film and TV companies in Los Angeles.Applications for the Hollywood Workshop are open to students of the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy only.
Where can I apply for a Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM?
Depending on whether you are interested in applying for support as a university student, vocationally qualified person or secondary-school student, you should get in touch directly with the contact person of the relevant program partner. It is not possible to apply directly to the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg.

What are the deadlines for applications?
Subject to a decision of the Supervisory Board of the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg, the following application deadlines shall apply (errors and omissions excepted): Program for University Students:
Application deadline for scholarship year 2010/11: 31 March 2010
Deadlines may vary slightly; please check the information displayed at your university's International Office.
Program for Vocationally Qualified People: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. However, the cut-off date is the last month of each quarter,
i.e. 31 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December.
Program for Secondary-School Students: Application deadline for 2010: 15 December 2009
Walter Hallstein Program:Application deadline for 2010: 15 February 2010
Program Andrássy University Budapest: Outgoing students: Start of studies February 2010:08/01/10. Incoming students: Start of studies April 2010: 31/12/09.
Program for Film Production: Please note the invitation to tender within universities.
What services are associated with the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM?
Scholarship holders in all programs are part of the international Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM network. You can build contacts with more than 10,000 scholarship holders worldwide, take part in special events and use the Internet platform. The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM offers financial support, which varies according to the program:
Program for University Students:
Universities:
at least €400 per month
Universities of cooperative education:
at least €100
per month Support period:Universities: 4-11 months
Universities of cooperative education: 3-6 months
Program for Vocationally Qualified People: Monthly base scholarship of €800 - 900 for board, lodging and travel.
Where needed, a language course of up to €500 will also be covered.
Possible allowance for study fees or further training costs. Support period:Internship: 2-6 months
Further training: 2-11 months.
Program for Secondary-School Students:Travel expenses, school attendance, support of students and host families locally,
insurance package (health, accident, insolvency insurance), preparation,
orientation and follow-up seminars Support period:One school year.
Walter Hallstein Program: Europe path 1:
€400 - 1200 per month, depending on the qualification Europe path 2: at one internship location:
€1,000; at two internship locations: €1,100; at three internship locations: €1,200 Support period: Europe path 1: Max. 2 semesters of 6 months each. Europe path 2: Usually 2 months.
Program Andrássy University Budapest: Outgoings: max. €700 per month. Incomings: €700 per month. Support period:Outgoings: 10 months. Incomings: 1-3 months.
Program for Film Production: Support period:3-week workshop and 4-6 week internship.
