The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung represented at the "educataGhana2020“

On 19th and 20th October 2020 the international education fair educataGhana2020 took place as a hybrid event in Accra, Ghana. The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, represented by Mr. Bismark Ashiagbenu from the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana), was among the 20 exhibitors with its own exhibition stand and presented the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM to the visitors.

The aim of educataGhana2020 was to provide a platform for representatives of educational institutions in Ghana. Therefore various levels of education in Ghana (Basic Education, Higher Education, TVET and Entrepreneurship) were presented and it was discussed how they could be improved in order to contribute to the overall development of Ghana. To these end stakeholder panel discussions, presentations, Fireside Chats and Pitches were part of the 2-days agenda, both virtual and on-site.

As part of the introduction to the event, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung and the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM were presented among others to the Ghanaian Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

The cooperation between AHK Ghana and the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung is the result of a delegation trip in 2018. The cooperation aims to make the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM known in Ghana and to find potential scholarship holders. In 2020 for the first time, three Ghanaian applicants have been selected for a Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for Vocationally Qualified People.  Two of them took part in a discussion of the AHK Ghana on the main stage of educataGhana2020. The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung present itself to interested visitors of the educataGhana2020 by an exhibition stand, which was supervised by Mr. Ashiagbenu.

The lively interest in the exhibition stand of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung and the discussions and conversations that followed show that the eduacataGhana2020 was with around 700 physical and more than 800 virtual participants a fruitful event.

The Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for Vocationally Qualified People offers exciting insights into the manner of working, business structures and management concepts of related industries in the Southwest of Germany. It is aimed at young vocationally qualified people who have completed non-academic professional training for which they received an outstanding grade. Based on the principle of reciprocity, the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for Vocationally Qualified People is designed to enable applicants from Baden-Württemberg and other countries to undertake a placement abroad in the form of work experience or further training. Not only the young vocationally qualified people profit from these experiences abroad and the newly acquired skills, but also the firms in the scholarship holders' own countries.
